Build To Serve

Hello,

With the Holiday Season quickly approaching, the priority to break ground on the shovel ready projects in our backlog increases. If being the CEO/Founder of Watkins Landmark for 18 years (as well as another dozen years in the construction industry) has taught me anything, it’s that if a project doesn’t start before Thanksgiving, there is the proverbial snowball’s chance in hell it will start before New Years. Typically, the manpower in our industry takes the Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks off, while the time in between usually has an increase in availability. While I understand the many reasons for this slowdown, I personally think it is a missed opportunity for our clients to utilize the manpower availability that the in-between weeks offer. Due to the ramifications of COVID and the demand for multi-family housing, we have been experiencing a manpower shortage in the construction industry. The increased availability of manpower is something our clients should factor when deciding to break ground on their project in 4Q/2022 or 1Q/2023. Watkins Landmark is certainly not taking our hand off the throttle during the Holiday Season.

This month’s newsletter contains articles on the ribbon cutting at our United Methodist Church of Vista Fellowship Hall Addition project, our team at the Union Apartments project achieving the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy, as well as our culture section which features pictures from our executive team’s attendance at The Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad 41st Annual Baci Ball Gala. Watkins Landmark has been a proud sponsor of the Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad for more than a decade.

Thank you for all of your comments and suggestions on our newsletter over the years. We truly try to incorporate the best of your remarks into our periodical. You can always click on my name and email me at Jody James Watkins with any observations or critiques.

Sincerely,

Jody James Watkins

United Methodist Church Vista Ribbon Cutting

By Krysten Santiago, Business Development Coordinator

On Sunday, September 25th, the United Methodist Church Vista held a ribbon cutting in conjunction with the City of Vista. The church welcomed 18 community organization partners they have given grants to last year such as Casa de Amparo, TIPS, Vista Boys and Girls Club, Operation Hope North County, Vista Teen Outreach and more. Watkins Landmark Construction was honored to be a part of the list of attendees.

The community gathering celebrated the new additions and renovations to the church that our team has made, including the new Fellowship Hall, classroom additions, and beautification of the site overall.

Watkins Landmark Construction would like to thank all of those who attended the ribbon cutting ceremony. We were blessed to be a part of such a wonderful and welcoming congregation. We hope to do more faith-based projects in the future as they make up such an integral part of the community.

The Project Management team consists of Belen Tillett (Project Manager), Joel Rawson (Superintendent), Ruben Bravo (Project Engineer) and Lisa Karp (Project Coordinator).
